CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

LATEST UPDATE – 9 AUGUST 2020

The latest update received from Doncaster & District Bowls Association confirms that there will be no official league or cup bowling for the 2020 season. They have taken into account the fact that there are clubs which are not open, some bowlers are still apprehensive about mixing, and the possibility of local lockdown interruptions.

Your Committee continues to hold meetings via Zoom and we try to give you as many opportunities to play as we can, but always keeping in mind risk assessments and latest government guidelines.

We do however have the opportunity to arrange to play friendly games with other clubs. Our problem is not having access to the Pavilion and toilet facilities therefore we can only play away games.

Tony would like to hear from you regarding whether or not you are available and willing to play in any of these games which he is able to arrange with other clubs. Please email him direct, or telephone.

Without wanting to preach, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the VIRUS is still very active and great care must be taken at all times, even more so now that we shall be visiting other clubs. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing.

Now that the shielding programme has finished, this has brought to light the fact that there are members who, for various reasons, wish to play on their own. When booking the green for a roll-up or practice, Irene will ask if you are willing to share the green, or not, and your decision will be respected.

Looking forward to seeing some of you in the near future,

Marion Allen, pp Tony Bradbury, Secretary

UPDATE  – MARCH 2020
Members will now have received notification regarding the booking system now in place and the guidance regarding use of the green.

In response to Government and British Crown Green Bowls Association advice, the Tickhill Bowling Club Committee has decided, for reasons of health and safety for all our members, that unfortunately we have to suspend our own organised events.  These include the friendly match with Ranskill, the Fun Day, our own Internal Club Competition, and Pot Lucks.
Although the green will be left open if members wish to use it, it has to be their own decision.
Forwarded under separate cover is an email which clearly explains why all league and cup games have been suspended for the foreseeable future.  The time limit is very difficult to predict, the initial thoughts are 12 to 14 weeks, roughly half of our season.
We hope you all understand the reason for this decision being taken.  It is regrettable but has to be done.  We shall keep you informed as the situation changes.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation,
Tony Bradbury
Secretary
